ROUTE PROGRAMME
1st PART09:00 - Arrival in the Garden of Heroes, in the area where the camp and the cemetery of the besieged were located. Today is the only regional sculpture gallery in Greece, the only historical park regarding the Greek Revolution. (Duration 1 hour and 30 ') 10:30 - Departure from the Garden of Heroes and a short stop at “ntapia” of Franklin or "Terribile". (Duration 15 ') 10:45 - We walk next to the fortification and crossing the city center we reach the Museum of History & Art of the Municipality of the Sacred City of Messolonghi, the Municipal Gallery. (Duration 30 ') 11:15 - Presentation and interpretation of works related to the sieges and the Exodus. Also, we admire weapons, rare versions and useful objects of that time. (Duration 1 hour and 30 ') 12:45 - Departure for the speech and art center "DIEXODOS". (Duration 10 ') 12:55 - We visit one of the few houses that survived the destruction of Messolonghi. Τhe house where Athanasios Razikotsikas, the elected military commander of the "local chariots", was born, lived and was killed at the Exodus. (Duration 45 ') 13:40 - Lunch on the cobbled streets of the city. (Duration 1 hour and 30 ') 15:15 - Departure for the hotel. Free time.
2nd PARTMessolonghi Aetoliko Lagoon 09:30 – Arrival at the site where the neighboring museums of the Palamas and Trikoupis houses are located. We start with our visit to the Trikoupis Family Museum where on the ground floor we are informed about the life and work of the most charismatic politician of the 19th century, Charilaos Trikoupis, while on the first floor we see how an urban house of Messolonghi of that time was designed. (Duration 1 hour and 30 ') 11:00 - We visit the Museum of the Palamas House. We are informed about the educational work of the family during the pre-revolutionary era, about Kostis Palamas who wrote, among other things, the Anthem of the Olympic Games and shaped Greek literature as well as the intellectual movement of Messolonghi. (Duration 45 ') 11:45 - We head to the building of the Byronic Society of the Sacred City of Messolonghi. 12:00 - We arrive at the “Center for Research and Study of Lord Byron and Philhellenism”, where we are informed about his life and work, as well as about the actions of the Society. (Duration 1 hour) 13:15 - Lunch on the cobbled streets of the city. (Duration 1 hour and 30 ') 14:45 - Free time
