Kryoneri (old name: Basta) is an old traditional settlement in the northeast of Ancient Olympia. The old name has Italian origins and many attractions of the settlement, such as the half-finished Venetian castle in Kionia, the temples and the icons with the western mentality structure, even the many scattered Venetian olives, testify to the Venetian presence before 1204.
