The daily history conference will address issues related to the Greek revolution in general and the contribution of the province of Olympia to it in particular. Special mention will be made of people from Andritsaina with important action in the organization of the revolution, such as the protophile Panagiotis Anagnostopoulos, but also in the battle of the straits of Agios Athanasios. Reference will also be made to Ioannis Kapodistrias, on whose government the Andritsaini High School, which is still in operation, was founded.
Finally, there will be a literary approach to the phenomenon of the Revolution of 1821.
The speakers will be exclusively archaeologists, historians and philologists, while priority will obviously be given to doctors and holders of postgraduate degrees. The texts they will present will be composed exclusively for the celebrations of the two hundred years of the revolution. The duration of the conference, due to the new subsidized budget, will be limited to one day. The speakers will be at least three in total and will offer not only a theoretical but also an interactive approach to the topic through questions and answers.
It is obvious, then, that the conference will not have an exclusive lecture character but will also motivate the participation of the listeners.
The daily conference will take place in August 2021, if the epidemiological conditions allow, in the event hall of either the Public Historical Library of Andritsaina or the Folklore Museum of Andritsaina.
If the conditions are prohibitive, there is a possibility of implementing the event in the open, stone-built Theater of Andritsaina.
The texts that will be presented by the participants will be collected in order to create an electronic manual-practice book. This book will be published on the internet so that it is accessible to any researcher and ordinary interested party at any time.
The regular or printed record of the meeting will also be examined, as well as its distribution in local libraries, without this being binding for the Association due to the reduced subsidy from the Region of Western Greece.
In order to motivate the youth of the area to actively participate in the conference, we will try, in collaboration with the Gymnasium-Lyceum of Andritsaina, to create groups which outside the school hours themselves will investigate Andritsaina's contribution to the Revolution.
Then they will be able to proceed with the composition of papers which will be given the opportunity to present at the conference.
All participating teams will be awarded prizes for their participation and mobilization by our Association.
The event will be advertised both on the social media of the Association and in local newspapers.
An equally great effort will be made to broadcast the day on local television stations. Finally, personalities of the local government from the Municipality of Andritsaina-Krestena, as well as from the Region of Western Greece will be invited.
