On Saturday 22/05/2021 & Sunday 23/05/2021, the Patras Shooting Club will hold a museum exhibition of traditional weapons of the Struggle. The exhibition will be hosted in the event hall of the Cultural Center of I.N. Agioi Apostoloi Petros & Pavlos Begoulakiou and will be open throughout the two days.
The collection that will be exhibited will be of educational nature, as the main goal of the involved organizers - exhibitors is to inform and present the exhibits through slides to students (through schools) and young people, but also in general to those who show interest. The president of Patras’ Shooting Club, Mr. Konstantinos Vangelakos, will be responsible for the briefing - presentation.
On Sunday 23/05/2021 the central event will take place in Giannia Square. Initially, a memorial prayer will be read at the site of the monument, the National Anthem will be played and wreaths will be laid by official bodies and associations.
Then there will be a historical analysis of the action of the Fighter Giannias until his death by a folklorist - historian. Reports of historical war events will follow and their analysis until his hanging by the Shooting Club of Patras and Mrs. Konstantina Zagla (choreographer of the Cultural Association of Begoulaki).
After the speeches, an honorary plaque will be awarded to the guests of the Cultural Association of Begoulaki.
The end of the event will be done by the dance group of the Cultural Association Begoulaki accompanied by traditional instruments with the historical song "Giannia".
At a later time, the Cultural Association of Antronios, Ilia, will hold a corresponding event of a reciprocal nature.
All events will be curated by Mrs. Konstantina Zagla (choreographer).
