ALL POINTS OF INTEREST

Prokopanistos is a small uninhabited island in the Gulf of Patras and at the entrance of the Messolonghi Lagoon. Administratively it belongs to the Municipality of Messolonghi. Next to it is the islet of Schinias. Prokopanistos, together with the neighboring islands, functions in some way as a natural breakwater of the Messolonghi Lagoon, separating it from the Gulf of Patras.

A smaller island of the same lagoon is also known by the same name, where the church of "Panagia Prokopanistiotissa or Panagia of Waters " is located and built in 1905 on stilts. On Prokopanistos there are facilities and seasonal fishermen's houses. In fact, in 1961 it was recognized as a settlement and annexed to the Municipality of Messolonghi where it belongs to this day.
