Folklore Museum of Missolonghi
The Folklore Museum of our city, is a place of tradition and
culture, which was completed with the support of sponsors and volunteers in
order to save our tradition.
It is a new point of interest for our city, as well as for
the inhabitants of the wider area.
A plethora of exhibits and rare antiques await visitors to
admire our tradition and the daily life of farmers, fishermen and other social
and professional classes, who lived in old Messolonghi. Tools for cultivation,
but also for fishing, food preparation and serving, old costumes, such as the
costume of Kitsos Tsavelas, clothes, loom, photos and furniture, old radios,
typewriters, sewing machines and many other objects that compose a scene that
goes back the visitor a decade and travels him to another era.
One of the most important exhibits is a sword of a fighter
from Heroic Exodus that dates before 1826, the clarinet of the great Margelis,
the drum of the great organ player Salea.
Apart from these, there are paintings by great painters such
as Prekas and Soroga and the Messolonghi painters, Manta, Adas Moschandreou and
many others.
